Big win for the environment as Kenyans turn up to plant fruits

Members of the Najimudu Empowerment Initiative led by the chairperson Petronila Wakio joined the Kidundu village community at Kilifi Creek in planting 2,500 mangrove seedlings in line with the national theme ‘Citizen centric tree growing and environmental stewardship’ on Friday, October, 10, 2025. Kenyans on Friday united to plant trees across the country to mark this year’s Mazingira Day, as the government intensified efforts to boost forest cover.

There was a beehive of activity in various parts of the country as government officials, environmental enthusiasts, and other Kenyans planted trees.
