Residents of Bulapesa area in the outskirts of Isiolo town woke up to shocking news of a woman and her four children had been burnt alive in their home.

The fire, which started at midnight, destroyed the house completely, leaving no survivors and property worth millions.

Tension among the members of the public began spreading after they realised that the incident was no accident. The arsonist, a middle-aged woman, was allegedly on a revenge mission in a suspected love triangle after her Husband eloped with the mother of four.

Angry residents hunted the suspect down, killed and burnt her house, just a few hundred meters away at Bulapesa cemetery. Grave diggers were preparing a grave where the five bodies would be laid to rest an hour later.

Abdi Duba, a relative, said the family and neighbours made efforts to fight the flames, but it was too much for them to deal with, and the firefighting teams were not available to intervene.

Calls for peace and reduced tensions were the first action that the elders from the area took.

Abdi Dida, the area chief, confirmed the incident, adding that quick action had been taken to protect the children of the suspect who were at the school after rumours started spreading that some youths were planning to cause harm to them.

Dida called for restraint among the youth and the general public to give room for authorities to do their work, a call that came too late, with the body of the suspect burning to ashes a few hundred meters from the cemetery where he spoke to the press.

Omar Gadana, another respected elder,r coming out to call for calm and restrestraintexplained that nothing like that had been witnessed in Isiolo.
