List of Nairobi estates to experience six-day water disruption

Several Nairobi estates will go without water for six days, from Monday next week, till Saturday.
This follows an announcement by the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company of the interruption of water by the Athi Water Works Development Agency (AWWDA).
The interruption, will affect several estates in Nairobi between Monday, April 6, at 6am and Saturday, April 11, is to allow works at the Kigoro treatment plant.
“Athi Water Works Development Agency will shut down the Northern Collector Tunnel 1 System, to operationalise and satisfactorily conclude all contractual scope of works for the Kigoro Water Treatment Plant to Gigiri Reservoirs to Kabete Reservoirs,’’ read the statement.

The works will interrupt services for residents of Riverside and Parklands, Gitanga Road, and Kunde Road. Ole Ndume road, King'ara road, Mbaazi, Riara road, and environs in Lavington will also be affected.
Other areas include the University of Nairobi, Mamlaka line, Valley road, Argwings Kodhek road from Chaka road to Hurlingham, Hurlingham shopping centre and environs, Mtito Andei road, Kindaruma road, Rose Avenue, Lower George Padmore road, Daystar University, Denis Pritt road, Coptic Hospital, and environs in Kilimani.
Additionally, Lower Gitanga road, parts of Kawangaware, Sunset estate, Kikuyu road, Waithaka, Ndwaru road, Upper Waithaka, Gachui, Kirigo, Dagoretti Market and Mariguini, Uthiru Muthua area, Muchugia road, Mutego, Mutuini, and environs will also face disruptions.
Other affected places will be Kenyatta Market and environs, Upper Hill areas, Makongeni environs, Southlands estate, with the entire industrial area among others.
The water agency regrets any inconveniences while calling on the public’s indulgence, urging the use of available water sparingly.
