Siaya County basketball 3x3 champions Sawagongo and Ng’iya Girls both picked wins on day one to set off their title push as Nyanza Secondary School term two games kicked off at Kisumu Boys and Kisumu Girls on today.
Sawagongo humbled Nyabisasa 21-9 while Ng’iya Girls schooled Sironga 21-3. St Mary’s Yala, on the other hand, also joined the winners with a 21-1 win over Mwongoro.
“It’s a game at a time for us. No pressure again, and our focus is to get over day one and prepare for the knockouts,” said Ng’iya Girls coach Naftali Ambala.
“The games are fairly tough, and there is no favourite tag. We have the likes of Nyakach and Asumbi Girls, strong teams around. We need to be focused to be able to defend our title.”
Former Kisumu County champions Maseno School, on the other hand, saw off Kanyawanga 21-11.
