Residents of Ndabibi, Naivasha are trying to come to terms with an incident where a ten year old boy took his life hours before schools reopened for the third term.

The lifeless body of the minor who was living with her grandparents was found hanging in his bedroom after failing to report for breakfast.

The death brings to six the number of minors who have committed suicide in Naivasha since the year began with use of drugs and family abuse blamed for the incidents.

Emotions ran high in the homestead as police moved in to collect the body before taking it to Naivasha sub-county hospital mortuary.

According to Naivasha DCIO Isaac Kiama, the motive behind the latest incident was not clear as the minor had not complained of anything before going to sleep.

He said that the investigation officers had opened an inquest file with the grandparents recording statements as part of their investigations.

“We had an incident where a ten year old boy took his life using a rope in the grandparent’s home and we are investigating the matter,” he said.

Meanwhile, a domestic row ended tragically after a man hit his wife on the head using a jembe in Mirera estate in Naivasha killing her on the spot.

The man in his mid-30s was arrested hours later as he tried to flee the town as the body was collected and taken to the local mortuary.

According to a neighbor Simon Mwai, the couple had on several occasions differed with the man accusing the wife of being unfaithful.

“They have in the past fought over the allegations but the man got incensed this time round and attacked the wife using a jembe leading to her death,” he said.

The DCIO confirmed the incident adding that the suspect was in custody and would be charged in court with murder once they were through with their investigations.

“Initial investigations indicate that the man hit the wife on the head using a jembe leading to her death following a domestic row,” he said.
